Metrico Wireless Launches New Breakthrough Program that Enables Mobile Industry Players and Enterprises to Better Understand that Everyday, Real-world Experience of Wireless Device Users

Metrico M.E. Provides Most Comprehensive Third-party Data on the Performance of Mobile Devices

CTIA WIRELESS 2010, Las Vegas (Booth #2732) – March 23, 2010 – Metrico Wireless , a leading provider of performance evaluation solutions for mobile devices, today launched an innovative new program called Metrico Mobile Experience (Metrico M.E.) that will finally answer the question: How well does your mobile device perform compared to other popular mobile devices on the market today?

Which smartphone offers the fastest Web browsing experience?
The lowest dropped call rate? The best speech quality? Right now, this kind of unbiased, objective information on the everyday experience of wireless users is hard to come by. Carriers, retailers, even the phone manufacturers can benefit from better information, and not knowing how their mobile devices stack up in terms of performance can significantly impact bottom lines.

Enter Metrico, which will now evaluate the performance of all smartphones and popular feature phones sold by the big four U.S. carriers immediately after these devices are commercially launched and make that data available through Metrico M.E. Metrico will run the devices through a combination of multiple market field and lab evaluations; it's the most in-depth third-party, independent and unbiased comparison of the actual real-world experience offered by mobile devices.

“Our new Metrico M.E. program is designed to give existing Metrico customers – as well as other industry players, retailers and enterprises – a more comprehensive view of how the market’s most popular mobile devices are performing in the real world,” said Rich McNally, VP, Information Products, Metrico. “With a subscription to Metrico M.E., they gain access to vital information on the Web, video, data and voice experience offered by devices.”

Carriers will be able to make better-educated business decisions based on their own and competitors’ performance results. For instance, mobile operators can use the information to better understand how the mobile user experience correlates to device returns. This can greatly impact a carrier’s bottom line, given that a mobile operator with just 10 million subscribers can easily spend up to $1 billion per year in device subsidies.

OEMs, ODMs and component suppliers will gain insight into how their devices perform on different networks and which components, sub-systems or chipsets may not be operating up to par.

Enterprise IT managers will have the data they need at their fingertips to select best-performing devices to keep IT support costs down and recommend the devices that are the “right fit” for their employees.

Independent retailers will gain a deeper understanding of the mobile devices they offer as well as which devices might be a good fit for certain customers, thus improving overall customer service.

"Devices are playing a more critical role in sales, customer satisfaction and network upgrade decisions – and industry players need to understand how the mobile devices they offer are performing in the real world,” said Tuong Nguyen, principal research analyst, Technology & Service Provider Research, Gartner. "Communications Service Providers (and in turn consumers) as well as enterprises can benefit from data that enables the apples-to-apples comparison of the performance of popular mobile devices on specific wireless networks.”

Subscriptions to the new service are available now. All subscribers will receive monthly summary ratings for all evaluated devices beginning in July, and will have access to detailed reports for individual devices.

Metrico is featuring its Metrico M.E. and Fit4Launch programs at CTIA Wireless this week in the Metrico booth (#2732).
